Four useful formats
Copy or export the equation in the format your destination needs. SVG stays editable in vector tools. PNG is ready to place as an image. MathML supports accessible document and web workflows. LaTeX gives you the original source.
- SVG: scalable paths for tools such as Figma, Illustrator, and Affinity Designer.
- PNG: a tightly cropped image with transparent, white, or dark background options.
- MathML: semantic mathematical markup for accessible workflows.
- LaTeX: source you can paste into another writing environment.
Set the presentation
Choose a font size from 8 to 200 points, a color, and a background where applicable. PNG has Standard and Print quality options, while SVG remains vector-based.
PNG quality: Standard and Print
DPI means dots per inch. It describes how many pixels the PNG uses for each inch of its intended physical size, not how large the equation appears in the preview.
Standard is 72 dpi. It uses fewer pixels and is the best choice when you need a predictable placed size in presentation and document apps. Print is 300 dpi. It contains more pixels for a sharper raster result on paper and in print layouts.
- Choose Standard for slides, everyday documents, and destinations that need the simplest size behaviour.
- Choose Print for a 300 dpi document or when the final output will be printed.
- The PNG records its density so compatible apps place Standard and Print at the same physical size.
Check the destination
SVG carries real vector paths, but some apps interpret sizing metadata differently. A few apps, including Pages and Keynote, can ignore the PNG density metadata and place a Print PNG larger than intended. Use Standard PNG when you need the most predictable placement in those apps.
