1. Create a study
Noctis Effect opens on Home, where your studies and notebooks live. Tap + and choose the kind of study: Beam, Truss, Frame or Space truss. Each study keeps its own units: SI (kN, m), US (kip, ft) or US (lb, in).
If this is your first time, open the Tutorials tab on Home. The 2D truss and Space truss tutorials walk you through this whole page on the real workspace.
2. Sketch by eye, then make it precise
Choose Member on the left rail and draw with Apple Pencil or a finger. Nodes snap to the grid and to each other, so a quick sketch already gives you a connected structure.
Then touch a node: its fan of actions opens around it. Choose Coordinates to type the exact x and y with the app's numeric keypad. The geometry follows, and every member length updates.
- Undo and redo are always at the top right.
- Turn on Draw only with Apple Pencil in the ••• menu to keep your finger for panning, zooming and inspecting.
3. Add supports and loads
Supports and loads come from the fan of the node or member you touch, or from the Supports and Force tools on the left rail. Pick a pin, roller or fixed support; give a force its magnitude and direction.
As soon as the structure is stable and loaded, it is solved. The status light at the bottom right turns green and tells you what was solved.
4. Read the results
The result bar at the top centre switches what the structure shows: Reactions, Axial, Shear, Moment and, with Linear elastic, Deformed, Stress and Safety. Values are drawn on the structure itself, and a card at the top right keeps the extremes in view.
Tap Inspect and touch a support, a member or a point on a diagram to read its exact value. Results stay up to date with every change you make.
