Results, stresses and safety factors

Read every result on the structure, inspect values, and check strength against a target FS.

Examples, downloads and media retain their original language.

Search guides, explanations and code examples.

    The result bar

The categories offered depend on the study and the analysis: Reactions, Axial, Shear and Moment with Equilibrium; Deformed, Stress and Safety are added with Linear elastic. The eye hides or shows the results without losing your choice.

Tension is positive and compression negative. In heat maps, blue is tension and red compression, with the legend beside the right rail.

    Inspect and tables

Inspect reads values without changing the model: touch a support, a member or a point on a diagram. Results on the right rail opens the full tables of reactions, member forces and displacements, and the free-body diagrams.

    Materials and sections

Properties assigns a material and a section to one member or to all of them. The material library includes structural steels (A36, A992, A500 Gr. C), stainless steel 304, aluminium 6061-T6, titanium Ti-6Al-4V, concrete and timber; you can also enter your own values.

Sections can be solid rectangles and circles, rectangular and circular tubes, or custom sections where you enter A, I and the fibre distance c directly.

    Safety factors

With a yield strength Fy in the material, every member gets a safety factor FS = σy/σ for yield and flexure, and members in compression are also checked for Euler buckling, with K taken from the supports as in the textbooks. Eccentric columns use the secant formula.

Set a target FS and Safety paints each member against it; the card names the critical member and the mode that governs. Advanced buckling options let you set K or unbraced lengths yourself.
